LSCD Rebrands SDForum
Founded 28 years ago, SDForum (Software Development Forum) has provided a way for professionals in the software industry to share ideas, to become better educated, and collaborate with people representing a wide variety of technical disciplines. Over time the organization has grown to serve an even broader market covering the entire footprint of the technology industry including clean tech, healthcare IT, social media, cloud and virtualization, mobile/wireless, and more.
The organization decided they needed a new brand to express who they are and where they are headed. The name was changed to SVForum to encompass all types of technology. (SV stands for Silicon Valley.) “Forum” communicates thier mission to facilitate timely industry debates, promote the sharing of knowledge, and enable professional collaboration. In partnership with Adrienne Parker of Motivo, we created a new branding strategy, a new logo and a new look for all SVForum literature and member communications. The new logo uses a variety of colors and interwoven lines to form a perfect sphere representing the continuation of thought and ideas that connect, change and evolve. It also represents the diversity of people, ideas and knowledge that are part of a greater whole—SVForum's global community.

A New Book to Help Job Seekers Find Success
Lauren Smith Communications Design was given the assignment of designing Great in 8: Job Seeking Skills. Written by professional career coach Joan Tabb, it's a workbook that teaches job seekers how to be more competitive in the job market in 8 easy steps. The book had to be attractive, accessible, and inviting. Our solution was to emphasize the 8 steps by the bold use of typography and color. The book is already garnering much attention and has been credited with jump starting numerous careers.
