Case Study: Washington Hospital

Washington Hospital Healthcare System is a community-owned hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area. The district they serve has grown nearly 20 times in size since opening 60 years ago. This has presented many challenges serving an expanding population and maintaining a high level of awareness. Many new residents aren’t familiar with WHHS—even though it’s close by and they are technically the hospital’s “owners.”

The WHHS marketing and communications team wanted to develop a creative advertising campaign to celebrate Washington Hospital’s 60th anniversary, recognize the local owner community, connect with newer residents, and reflect its diverse demographic audience. A tall order! We worked closely with the hospital’s advertising agency, Parker Avenue Advertising, to develop a concept that would celebrate not only the hospital’s anniversary but the diversity and ownership of the local community as well. The campaign featured beautiful portraits by photographer Jane Richey.
